MCA is excited to welcome to Australia the newest member of our coaching staff all the way from USA – Sam! You may have spotted him around the gym in the past three weeks coaching a number of our squads and passing on some of his valuable knowledge and experience.
Sam was a member of the Hawaii Pacific University large coed team in 2005/2006 that then went on to win the National Championships that year. In 2009 he completed his bachelor’s degree at Stephen F. Austin State University, and competed with the SFA Large Coed cheer team from 2009-2011, winning the National Championship title once again. In 2011-2012 Sam moved to the University of Minnesota, and as a head coach of the large coed squad, led them to a top 10 finish at the UCA College Nationals. For the past three years, Sam has been a privileged member of the Prodigy All Stars staff in Houston, Texas – learning from and training with some of the best coaches & athletes in the sport. Sam has spent more than 15 years involved with cheerleading, and loves sharing his passion of both tumbling and stunting with athletes.
Sam will be coaching the RAVENS (Jnr 1 Elite), BLACKBIRDS (Teen 1 Elite), SKYLARKS (Jnr 3), CARDINALS (Open 4), PHOENIX (IOC5) as well as Deakin University Ignite (Scholastic All Girl 3/4). Sam will also be coaching a number of tumble classes and is available for private lesson bookings.
This is Sam’s first international trip so please make sure to say hi if you see him around the gym and make him feel welcome at his new home of Melbourne Cheer Academy.
