MCA is an All Star Cheerleading gym based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. We offer a full range of classes to our athletes, including CheerStars, Novice Cheer to Level 7 squad, tumbling, flex and recreational classes.

Due to our incredible growth as a club, we are always on the lookout for great All Star coaches to join our team at MCA, helping to drive our vision and provide each and every MCA athlete with the opportunity to to be coached by the best.

CIT Program

MCA has a successful and motivated coaching program giving coaches the opportunity to grow and develop their cheer knowledge in a number of fields including tumbling, choreography, stunting and more. The gym offers a great working environment and opportunities for interstate and international travel.

Our MCA Coaches are essential components in the delivery of our programs and services. Coaches are required to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of our programs, educational trends and industry development. The position requires an energetic, motivated person who is not afraid to use their own ideas and initiative within their class environment.

Required Skills & Experience

Significant experience as a head coach on both both small and large all-star teams is a must
Experience & a deep knowledge of how to teach correct stunt technique to your level of accreditation
Current First Aid and CPR (can become qualified in the weeks before classes begin)
Current USASF/IASF coaching accreditation (or equivalent)
A clear Working with Children Check
A clear Criminal History Check
Experience working with groups of athletes from 4 – 30 years of age
Incredible communication skills, including oral, written, and numerical skills, with an eye for detail.
Ability to work in a team environment
Good work ethic

Bonus Skills & Experience that we love to see

Experience coaching level 4 – 6 squads
Experience choreographing routines that score highly on the ACSA, Varsity or United scoring rubric
Experience & knowledge of how to coach tumbling for levels 1-5 Eg. Back Handsprings, tucks, lays etc. (experience and knowledge of coaching twisting would be a bonus and highly desirable)

International & Interstate Applicants

For the right interstate or international applicant, it will be possible to negotiate additional items into an employment contract including:

Our office and administration staff are vital to the day to day running of our gym – from answering calls and emails behind the desk, to managing our hectic schedules on comp days, there is so much work that goes on behind the scenes from our administration team to keep things running smoothly!

General office experience, including managing and utilising spreadsheets and managing email responses

As part of the Melbourne Cheer Academy coach training program, Coach In Training (CIT) positions are available on all our CheerSport and Novice Level 1 teams, as well as selected higher level teams.

CITs are the second coach (or third depending on team size) for team sessions and the fourth coach in tumbling class to allow them to observe experienced coaches and get the best training to start them off. The most Senior Coach on the team will lead the training and conduct periodic assessments and feedback opportunities.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position due to the amount of training and resources put into coaching development. There may be paid work available later in the year and into the next season but this can not be guaranteed and will depend on individual aptitude and development as well as availability of positions. CITs may be asked to repeat their training year if necessary for their development.

Coaches In Training must be:

At least 16 years old at the beginning of the training year
Self motivated, eager to learn and comfortable directing their own learning
Experienced in cheerleading (at least one year as an athlete)
