This Friday September 14th is RUOK? Day. Which encourages people to check in with the people in their lives in a meaningful way. You don’t need to be an expert to reach out, you just need to be able to show you care and to listen.
Connection and communication are both really important to our society, and we’re so proud that both of our gyms provide a community for people to become part of, free from judgement. The gym is a safe space, and so this year we’re asking our coaches and athletes to check in and ask, are you ok?
It’s a simple conversation to have, and it could make someone’s day, or even change their life. But if you’re unsure where to start, below are some really helpful guides from RUOK? Day’s own website.
Before you ask, make sure you have a plan, you are ready and prepared and you have picked a good place to ask, one that is comfortable, semi-private and that means you have enough time to have the conversation. The below guide is really helpful in making sure you know what to do, no matter the outcome of your conversation
How to Ask, are you OK?
Throughout the gym this poster and others have been placed up in Conversation Corners, encouraging our athletes talk to each other in a meaningful way.
Make the most of this opportunity and remember that every day can be RUOK? day.
