Safe Training Protocols - Traffic Light System
We recognise that working back up safely to our competition season training loads is perhaps more important than ever after the 2020 season, so as a club we are reintroducing our ‘Traffic Light’ system for injuries and illness.
It is very important to us that our athletes feel comfortable telling us about any injuries or illness they may be experiencing that will impact their training, so we can keep both them and their team mates safe.
We also want to work with our athletes to be able to recognise the difference between general muscle fatigue or soreness from the nature of our sport and training and injuries and pain that require them to modify their training, and should be assessed by a medical professional.
You can find posters about our Traffic Light system around the gym for easy access.
Injury / Illness Checklist:
- Is this a new or existing issue?
- Have you made an appointment to see a physiotherapist or osteopath?
- Do you have a rehabilitation plan, with clear instructions as to what you are able to do and what you need to modify?
- Can you participate in training, or do you need to modify your training load?
- Do you need to sit out of training?
- If you are unable to partake in training, what rehab/conditioning are you able to do to assist in your recovery?
